More than 1,000 COVID-19 patients were identified from Colombo and there was a vigorous process underway to contain the spread of the disease, an official said.

Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Medical Council Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni told the Daily Mirror initial 337 cases reported within the municipal limit originated from the cluster associated with the Peliyagoda fish market.
Afterwards, he said the second level contacts of these patients were traced and tested.

“As a result, we found 702 cases. We are working hard to prevent the spread from Colombo North and Central areas to other parts of the city. At the moment, the situation is under control,” he said.
