The UNP will immediately start a process to popularise the party though hurried reorganisation is not needed, its former MP and Galle District Leader Vajira Abeywardene said yesterday.  “The UNP should be highly disciplined though a hurried re-organisation process is not needed,” Mr. Abeywardene told journalists in Galle.

“We will make strong decisions when it comes to discipline in the party,” Mr. Abeywardene said.

“This is not the first time that the UNP has tasted defeat as it has been defeated many times in the past. Failure is the beginning of success,” he added.

He also said people had kept strong faith on the SLPP and have given them a huge mandate. “The people have anticipated that the SLPP will revive the economy and the fallen sectors such as tourism. Also it may be that they have created their own destruction at the same time,” he said.
