The UNP yesterday called for the setting up of Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) to probe the phone conversations of MP Ranjan Ramanayake and the whole episode pertaining to the MP.

UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told a press conference that his party would call for the setting up of a select committee to probe matters pertaining to MP Ramanayke including the CDs recovered from his possession.

“We ask for a select committee and for the penalizing of those who are involved in various acts as it was revealed through the CDs” Mr. Kariyawasam said.

Also he denied the allegation made by State Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who accused Mr. Ramanayake and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of plotting to kill him.
He added that UNP will also take disciplinary action against Mr. Ramanayake shortly. MP Chandima Gamage who also participated in the press conference said an investigation has to be conducted to determine as to how those CDs which were recovered from Mr. Ramanayake’s residence went to some MPs and media.
