The United National Party (UNP), as the dominant ally of the government, will send the names of some MPs representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to President Maithripala Sirisena to be appointed as ministers, Daily Mirror learns.   .

President Sirisena is reported to have given his nod to increase the size of the Cabinet by accommodating some MPs from the SLFP.

Already, half a dozen of SLFP MPs have joined hands with the government. The UNP will propose MPs Gamini Wijith Wijeyamuni Zoysa, Piyasena Gamage, Lakshman Seneviratne and A.H.M. Fowzie to be appointed as ministers.

The UNP has sought approval to increase the number of Cabinet ministers on the basis that it has formed a
national government.
