With the uncontrollable increase in three-wheeler fares,  the All-Island Three-Wheeler Drivers’ Union (AITWDU) has increased the  three-wheeler fare yesterday.

While addressing the media, AITWDU President Lalith  Dharmasekera said the fares for the first and second kilometres in a  three-wheeler have been increased to Rs. 120 and Rs. 100 from yesterday.   Three-wheeler drivers who currently operate through mobile  apps and those who do not operate through apps or meters are charging  Rs. 250 for their first km.
Due to fuel shortages, the three-wheeler fares were revised  that the first km was Rs. 100 and the second km was Rs. 90. But the  metered three-wheelers used to charge Rs. 120 and Rs. 100 for the first  and second km, he said.

Therefore, Dharmasekara requested the people to inquire about the charges before boarding the vehicle.
