Total COVID-19 patients rise to 856 61 more patients recover

The total of Covid-19 patients rose to 856 with 9 deaths in the country with the finding of 10 Naval ratings and two of their associates on Saturday night, the authorities said.   

The National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) yesterday has admitted two patients and discharged four bringing the total recovered patients to 321.   


District wise, there were 150 patients with viral infections in hospitals in the high-risk districts of Colombo yesterday, 36 in Gampaha, 35 in Puttalam and 34 in Kalutara.   


Also, 13 in Kandy, 11 in Kurunegala, seven in Jaffna, five in Ratnapura, four each in Kegalle and Monaragala, two each in Anuradhapura, Matale and Kalmunai, one each in Badulla, Matara, Galle, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa Districts totalling the number of those under hospital treatment at 856 the authorities reported.   


Sixty-one more Covid-19 infected patients have recovered and discharged from the hospital increasing the total number of recovered cases to 321, the Health Ministry said yesterday.
