A probe had been launched in relation to the incident where the Prison Commissioner (Operations) had allegedly assaulted a jailor at the Welikada Prison on Tuesday night.
Prison Commissioner (Administration) and Spokesperson Chandana Ekanayake said a probe was launched under the directive of Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya.
The prison jailor was admitted to the Colombo National hospital following the incident.
It was reported that Prison Commissioner had noticed the prison jailor was sleeping while on duty and the Commissioner had reprimanded him.
