An army deserter and two accomplices of underworld gangster ‘Gagana’ who is currently in remand custody, have been arrested during raids at Arawwala in Maharagama, the STF said.
They said the raids were carried out by the STF Organised Crimes Unit following a tip-off on Tuesday.
The STF had recovered five sets of fake documents and 21 fake rubber stamps in a search operation carried out at a residence of a suspect in Arawwala.
Investigations revealed that the army deserter attached to the Sinha Regiment in Ambepussa Army Camp has been Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) since 2017.
The arrested suspects were handed over to the Maharagama Police for further questioning.
