Third batch of 223 leave quarantine centres

The third batch of 223 individuals, quarantined in Kandakadu, Punani, Diyatalawa and Miyankulama quarantine centres left for their homes yesterday morning, the Army said. 

Accordingly, 42 individuals from Kandakadu, 125 from Punani, 38 from Diyatalawa and 18 from Miyankulama quarantine centres were released and were provided transport facilities to Kandy, Colombo, Galle and Matara Districts.  


Army Spokesman Brig. Chandana Wickramasinghe said two Iranian and two South Korean nationals were among those released.  


The second batch of 201 individuals, quarantined in Kandakadu and Punani quarantine centres left last Wednesday (25), while 311 returnees quarantined for two weeks in Army-managed Quarantine Centres released as the first batch.  


Brig. Wickramasinghe said another batch was scheduled to be released today as well.
