The OIC of the Kollupitiya Police Crime Division died after he collapsed while exercising at the Galle Face Green yesterday morning.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said Chief Inspector Nishantha (42) was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital after he collapsed of a sudden illness.
He said CI Nishantha had been a heart patient for a long period and had undergone a heart surgery. An autopsy was to be conducted to determine the cause of the death. He was later tested negative for COVID -19
