Former NPC Chief Minister and the Secretary-General of the Tamil People’s Alliance C.V. Wigneswaran said that he believed that the Tamils will fully involve in the political, economic and social activities of the Tamil People’s Alliance and strengthen their stance.

He made the above comment yesterday  participating as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Tamil People’s Alliance District office in Ananthapuram in Kilinochchi.

Speaking further he said that when hundreds and thousands of people were displaced during the war in the Jaffna peninsula, they took refuge in Kilinochchi and the people in Kilinochchi provided them with food, shelter, security and all the assistance and by doing so the people in Kilinochchi had shown their brotherhood to them.
“Similarly, the people in the Kilinochchi District have so far had made great contributions in the protests launched to win our legitimate rights and made many sacrifices. Hence, if we are to say that their participation in political activities and awareness campaigns is far greater which is not an exaggeration,”  Secretary-General of the Tamil People’s Alliance
C.V. Wigneswaran said.

He said that the Tamils had been struggling for many decades to win their legitimate rights and were subjected to mass scale genocide and were living as slaves in their hereditary lands now, due to the denial of ethnic justice to them.   “Further, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in their report on Sri Lanka has recommended to the member countries to hold investigations on those who were involved in war crimes and other criminal activities and institute legal action against them as credible investigations on war crimes had not taken place as yet,” said former NPC Chief Minister and the Secretary-General of the Tamil
People’s Alliance.
