The Suwaseriya 1990 ambulance service has been getting a large number of panic calls from people during the past few days, its founder, former MP Harsha de Silva said yesterday.
Dr. de Silva in his latest facebook post said many have called after getting worried that either they or one of their loved ones had contracted COVID-19.
“ Most of the callers had been alarmed after symptoms such as fever, discomfort in the throat and cough had emerged. One should understand that a person should have the said symptoms for more than three days to suspect that he or she had contracted the virus. Therefore we request people not to panic unnecessarily,” Dr. de Silva said.
Dr. de Silva said telephone facilities of the Suwasariya office have been doubled so that people could call and request for an ambulance in the event they have to get to hospital during an emergency.
