But says democracy should be upheld leaving no room for Mugabe-type rule

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) candidate and former State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe yesterday said he is not in favour of re-convening Parliament but stressed that democracy should be ensured while addressing emerging economic issues.

Mr Senasinghe told a media conference that democracy should be upheld by the rulers rather than adopting a Mugabe type administration.    “ I don’t favour re-convening of Parliament as I am prepared to go home if people tell me to do so. However I would stress that democracy should be upheld rather than adopting a Mugabe type of administration. What we can see today is govenment acting as a dictator” the former state Minister said.
“The government should not politicise the Covid-19 crisis and gain political advantage out of it,” he added.
