The leader of the Ceylon Makkal Congress and former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen was interrogated for more than two hours yesterday by the police officers of the Organized Crimes Preventive Division (OCPD) and a statement recorded.

He was present at the OCPD on a notice issued by them, and his interrogation lasted from 09.30 am to 11.45 am.

Police sources stated that this questioning was held on a complaint made by Rishad Bathiudeen to the Police Head Quarters requesting an investigation against the facts revealed by certain Media institutions recently.   During this interrogation a statement was also recorded in connection with a complaint made against Rishad Bathiudeen and former Governor of the Eastern Province M.L.A. M. Hizbullah by one Kandiah Imbarasa alleging the former of having made death threats on 05/09/2018.

Hizbullah the other person on whom the complaint has been made is due to appear before the PCPD today (03).

Bathiudeen after giving this statement addressing the Media who were present outside said that there were several allegations made against him during the recent past by many who spread fake news about him.

“I made a complaint to the police head-quarters and today they called me and recorded a statement. I have not done anything wrong, but these people had framed false charges against me and caused inconvenience to me. I trust that one day the truth will triumph”.
