Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardane said Sri Lanka registered protest over a twitter by the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) including video footage of wartime scenes.

Mr. Gunawardane told Daily Mirror that    it was a deviation of the practice by the OHCHR, and therefore Sri Lanka communicated its protest.

In the Twitter message, the OHCHR said Sri Lanka’s failure to address past violations had heightened the risk of human rights violations being repeated. The message is carried with a video footage with scenes from the war front.

“This Twitter message is a total deviation from the procedure laid down in this regard. It is utterly biased,’’ he said.
Sri Lanka is listed for scrutiny at the next session of the UNHRC between February 12 and   March 19.
