Soysapura Shooting: Car, driver taken into custody

A 50-year-old man from Piliyandala and the car which had been used for the shooting at an eatery in Soysapura, Moratuwa, were taken into the custody, Police said.   

They said the car and its driver were taken into custody on Tuesday night in Piliyandala by the Western Province Intelligence Division officers.  


The police launched investigations after a group of gunmen, who arrived in a car opened fire at an eatery in Soysapura on May 29, while three police officers were on duty.   


The eatery also came under attack by an unidentified group wielding swords on May 19.   


The Police arrested several suspects connected to the incident and the main suspect in the shooting, Pathiranage Raja Wimaladharma alias ‘ Gonakovile Raja’ was shot dead in an encounter with the police in Minuwangoda.
