Shrimp farmer, bulldozer operator remanded till Sept. 4

The businessman and the other person involved in bulldozing a part of Anawilundawa Ramsar wetland sanctuary by going against the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance were ordered to be remanded till September 4 by the Acting Magistrate of Chilaw Shanaka Udayanga on Saturday.  

 The two remanded suspects were Warnakulasooriya Nishantha Fernando, a shrimp farmer from Udappuwa and Poruthotage Sujith Nishantha Gamage who was a bulldozer operator. Arachchikattuwa Police arrested the suspects on Saturday morning.   


The Arachchikattuwa Police further reported that information about an involvement of a provincial politician in this incident had been revealed and it would be reported to the court after conducting further investigations.
