Several including nine nurses at Kandy Hospital ENT tested COVID-19 positive

 A doctor at the ENT Unit at the Kandy National Hospital said that 19 people, including nine nurses, had contracted the COVID-19 virus, investigations have revealed.  

  After it was confirmed on the 26th that two nurses at the clinic had contracted the COVID-19 virus, 71 staff members were have undergone to the PCR the next day.   


The infected persons have been found among those who have been so tested. The Acting Director of the Kandy National Hospital, Dr. Iresha Fernando said that due to this situation, the surgeries in the ENT unit have been suspended until next Friday and the admission of new patients has also been suspended.    Ms. Fernando said that only one person would be allowed to see the patients being treated at the hospital and that it would be better if no one came to see the patients being treated in the intensive care units.
