Seventh COVID-19 patient dies

The seventh death related to COVID-19 was reported yesterday, the Health Ministry said.  The victim, 44, was a gem merchant from Mount Lavinia. He tested positive for the disease upon return to the country Germany. 

He succumbed to the disease while seeking treatment at the IDH hospital in Angoda.  


A total of 189 corona patients were recorded yesterday with four new cases. Three of them have had close contact with a COVID-19 patient reported from the Ratnapura district earlier. The other one had been identified from a quarantine centre.  


Already, 44 patients have recovered fully were discharged from hospitals. According to the health authorities, the source of infection can be traced as far as all the reported cases are concerned. 

 

 
However, they are planning to increase testing to know whether there are more cases hitherto unidentified.
