Amid the rapid increase in COVID-19 infections among armed forces personnel, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has set up a Special Presidential Task Force (SPTF) headed by Western Province Governor Air Marshal (Rtd) Roshan Gunatilleke to ensure the health safety within the tri-forces camps.

The President met retired Heads of Security and Specialist doctors at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday to identify measures needed to safeguard health at military camps.

The Presidential Secretariat said the SPTF established yesterday will formulate plans to ensure the health of personnel within camps and implement and monitor the plan.

The President said safeguarding the health of the security forces personnel was as important as protecting the citizens from the virus.
