A schoolboy (16) has been taken into custody on suspicion of abducting and raping a 15-year-old girl. The suspect was arrested during the investigation of a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.
Police said the suspect had taken the girl to a secluded location in the beach behind the Ratgama playground while curfew was in force and raped the girl. The Karapitiya Teaching Hospital JMO who examined the girl confirmed that she had been raped.
The suspect was to be produced before the Galle Magistrate.
