Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa claimed that his party’s campaign head Harin Fernando had come to a correct stand with regard to the perception the latter had on Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and resolved issues with him.
Mr. Premadasa said he and Mr. Fernando met Cardinal Ranjith during the weekend at the Archbishop’s House and ironed out differences. “We managed to come to a correct stand and resolved all uncertainties and confusions with the Archbishop of Colombo,” Mr. Premadasa said.
He said SJB will give due respect to the Cardinal and will support the endeavours of the Catholic Church.
The archdiocese recently condemned the remarks made by Mr. Fernando at a meeting in Medirigiriya that Cardinal Ranjith was engaged in politics during the last presidential election.
