A Sub Inspector of the Police Special Task Force (STF) has been arrested by the CID in connection with alleged drug trafficking links.

Police said the SI was arrested after he was summoned to the CID on Tuesday to record statement.  It was reported that the Sub Inspector was arrested on suspicion that he had provided security to the arrested officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau to smuggle heroin into the country from the sea.

It was also reported that the CID had questioned the SI over the largest haul of heroin discovered in Sri Lanka which was seized from the Kollupitiya area in Colombo in February last year.
