SL’s largest heroin haul Arrest warrant on four suspects

Colombo Fort Acting Magistrate Deemani Baddewela yesterday issued an open warrant through Interpol to arrest the four suspects including underworld gangster Sujeewa de Silva alias ‘Kosgoda Sujee’ in connection with Sri Lanka’s largest heroin haul.

‘Sujee’ is said to be living in Dubai. The other three suspects are Bangladeshi national Somon Skeikh Ahmed Hssain, Anthony Michael and Michael Abdul Raheem. The Magistrate made this order on a request made by the Police Narcotics Bureau.  


PNB informed Court that during the investigation the suspects had revealed that the heroin was sent to Sri Lanka by four notorious drug traffickers including Kosgoda Sujee who is currently hiding in Dubai.  


Meanwhile, the two suspects -- 43-year-old Mohomad Bazir Mohomad Ajmir and 32-year-old Mohomad Rilan Ahamad Ruzni from Keselwatte, Panadura -- arrested in connection with the detection of 294 kilograms and 490 grams of heroin were remanded till March 15 when they were produced in the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.   


In a report filed in Court, the PNB said the second suspect had been involved in drug trafficking and it was revealed that he had been transporting drugs using hired vehicles.  
According to the B report, this is the largest heroin haul detected in an Asian country after India, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
