A passenger disinfection chamber was installed at the arrival terminal of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) for the use of arriving passengers.

It said the BIA would in the near future re-open it services to incoming and outgoing passengers.
With the outbreak of COVID-19, the SLAF was tasked with the development of a disinfection system which could be used by passengers.

The Aeronautical Engineering Support Wing at the SLAF Base in Ratmalana had developed, fabricated and installed the passenger disinfection chamber on the instructions of the Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and under the supervision of the Director General, Engineering.

The Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd., has requested for more of these Chambers to be installed at other arrival and departure terminals of the BIA.
