SLAF aircraft made emergency landing at Irakkandi

A Cessna 150 aircraft used for basic training of pilots of the Sri Lanka Air Force made an emergency landing at Irakkandi area near the Nilaveli beach in Trincomalee yesterday due to a technical fault.  

The SLAF said that the plane took off from the China Bay air force base in Trincomalee at around 10.22 a.m. last morning and landed at around 10.48 a.m.last morning.  


The SLAF said the pilots were able to avert an accident and the aircraft and both pilots were safe.  
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudharshana Pathirana had instructed the relevant authorities to conduct further investigations into the incident.
