Leading underworld figure Eran Ranasinghe alias ‘SF Lokka’ was shot dead yesterday morning at Dahaiyagama in Anuradhapura, police said.
They said unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at a car in which SF Lokka was travelling near the Dahaiyagama railway crossing at around 11.45 am yesterday. SF Lokka’s hybrid vehicle was gutted by fire after the shooting incident.
It was reported that a woman was also on board SF Lokka’s car at the time of the shooting. However, she escaped unhurt.
Subsequently, he was rushed to the hospital, however, succumbed to his injuries on admission.
The 32-year-old underworld gangster was the main suspect in nightclub owner Wasantha de Zoysa’s killing in Anuradhapura.
Anuradhapura Police are investigating the shooting incident.
