Former Western Provincial Councillor (UNP) Royce Vijitha Fernando (53), who was arrested by the Katana Police on Saturday over the alleged assault on an individual, was remanded till July 17 by the Negombo Magistrate yesterday.
He was the main suspect in the incident in which an individual was assaulted at his residence and his belongings robbed on March 23 this year.
Earlier, the police arrested five suspects in connection with the incident. They are in remand custody.
