A ceremony to commemorate Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing who was also known as the”Lady with the lamp” was held yesterday at the Abhayaramaya in Narahenpita, Colombo with the participation of newly appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe as the chief guest. The event was organised by the chief incumbent of Abhayaramaya and President of Public Services United Nurses Union (PSUNU) Ven, Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera. Minister Bandula Gunawardena also participated at the event.
