UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake told journalists yesterday he was arrested even without a complaint being made to the police and when neither his number nor voice had yet been identified.
He said it was the second time that he was arrested without a complaint.
“No Magistrate has complained to any law enforcement agencies,” the MP said. “People, who want me arrested, assume that I have influenced legal proceedings.”
However, he said in reality, he had not influenced any of the Magistrates and added it was them who telephoned him requesting for police security.
“Most of the audio clips, which are being circulated, have been dubbed and some contain things which I have never uttered like disregarding Buddhism,” the MP said.
