Proposal passed to remove Ranil from Kelaniya temple ‘Dayaka Sabha’

A proposal put forward by the Kelaniya temple ‘Dayaka Sabha’ to remove Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe from the post of its chairman,   had been passed yesterday. 

A meeting of the ‘‘Dayaka Sabha’’ of the Kelaniya temple was held yesterday evening under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya temple Ven. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Thera. On this occasion, the proposal for the removal of Ranil Wickremesinghe from his post was put forward by the Chairman of the Seela Bhawana committee of the ‘‘Dayaka Sabha’’ P. Weerasinghe.

Accordingly, that proposal was passed with a majority of votes and it is scheduled to be presented to the executive committee of the Dayaka Sabha.

Subsequently, advisor prelates had called for a vote in which the majority voted to remove Mr. Wickremesinghe as the Chairman. However, a final decision on the proposal is to be taken at the executive committee meeting of the Dayaka Sabha, on the instructions of the prelates.
