Catholic Church had spent Rs. 6.2 million to re-pay the loans of the families who were devastated from Easter attacks, Director of Seth Sarana, the charity wing of the Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Nishantha Lawrence informed the PCoI probing Easter Sunday attacks on Friday.

Testifying before the Commission, Fr. Ramanayake said that the Catholic Church had provided Rs. 71.8 million for Katuwapitiya Church and another Rs. 41.5 million for St. Anthony’s Shrine, Kochchikade, to grant scholarship programmes for children until they complete primary education.

“Generally the Catholic community in the country are satisfied with the government’s ongoing inquiry into the attacks and all they want is justice for the whole community,” he said.

Fr. Ramanayake said that no one could not take away the trauma of the families who lost their loved ones.
“There are some families where they lost almost everyone, leaving them alone. Those people need special attention continually because they are not psychologically settled,” he said.
