Podi Lassi’s Mothers house

The mother, of underworld criminal Janith Madusanka de Silva alias ‘Podi Lassi’, was arrested by the Western Province North Crime Division, on charges of handling money earned from drug trafficking.
The 50-year-old woman, a resident of Thelwatta was arrested while at a hideout in Kottawa.
The police also seized Rs.51,000 in cash, five mobile phones and a bank account pass book which were with the suspect.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman was arrested at Boralesgamuwa yesterday on charges of drug trafficking.
Investigation revealed that the woman is a paramour of a drug trafficker in Mount Lavinia. The woman is reported to have aided and abetted in a case of heroin trafficking at Horana where several suspects were arrested with more than 1.5 kg of heroin in their possession.
Police obtained details of seven bank accounts where transactions amounting to more than Rs.140 million had been made through five bank accounts.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the CID seized six kilos of heroin and a haul of weapons concealed at Kandegoda in Ratgama. There were two T-56 guns, 82 bullets and two 9mm pistols found at the location. A CID official said these items including heroin belonged to a underworld criminal imprisoned in Boossa, Galle.
