The STF has arrested an accomplice of organised criminal Janith Madusanka de Silva alias ‘Podi Lassi’ with a cache of firearms and ammunition at a house at Wathugedara in Ambalangoda.
A T-56 assault rifle, four T-56 magazines, 98 rounds of T-56 ammunition, 53 rounds of 9mm ammunition, four 12-bore ammunition, a pistol, two smoke grenades, a hand grenade and a set of handcuffs used by the Police were among the haul.
The suspect was arrested in a raid carried out jointly by the STF of the Colombo and Rathgama STF Camps yesterday morning.
He was handed over to the Ambalangoda Police.
Gangster Podi Lassi is currently detained at the Boossa Prison.
Earlier, the Police also arrested Podi Lassi’s mother for handling money earned from drug trafficking.
