The Government has planned to administer the first dose of Sinopharm vaccine as a shield for COVID for people above 60 years of age, if they do not have health complications.

Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control State Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle told the Daily Mirror that there was a specific reason to arrive at the decision because mortality rate is high among people over 60 years.   The decision was made during a meeting of the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force yesterday.
