A total of 49 people have been found infected with COVID-19 within eight days through random Rapid Antigen Tests carried on those who were leaving the Western Province, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said yesterday.

The programme to conduct random Rapid Antigen Tests commenced on December 18 at four locations. However, the testing locations were later increased to 11.

He said the tests were being conducted at 11 different locations and approximately 8, 000 Antigen tests have been performed so far and  said tests were also being done on the Express ways to prevent emergence of new sub clusters.  “When health authorities or security officers order to stop your vehicles, kindly render your cooperation to them to perform the tests,” he requested the public.
