Public Administration Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon yesterday submitted a Cabinet paper seeking approval to grant an allowance of Rs.5,000 each for non-executive members of the public service.
The allowance will be paid in recognition of their service in the fight against COVID-19. This will be granted as a one-time allowance.
