There is no move to sell off the Bank of Ceylon Headquarters in Fort which is popularly known as ‘ Pittu Bambuwa’ to a foreign buyer, Minister of Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabral told Parliament yesterday.

“The Opposition has misled the public stating  the government is to sell the Bank of Ceylon Headquarters to a foreign buyer. This is completely false,” the State Minister said.
He said that the Opposition  was making  false allegations with the objective of implying that the Bank of Ceylon which  had been a prime state bank  was on the verge of collapse. “Misleading the public in this manner will have a negative effect on the economy. Therefore I sincerely request the Opposition not to mislead the public and support us to revive the country’s economy,” he said.
