Newyear rituals at Kataragama

The “Avurudu Mangalya” to perform traditional new year rituals at the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya will be held on April 14. Basnayake Nilame of the Maha Devalaya Dilruwan Rajapakse said the rituals would commence with the boiling of milk at 4.00 am followed by the morning Pooja. He said the Maha Devalaya would be closed after the morning Pooja until the dawn of New Year in the evening.    The Chief Kapurala, the performer of rituals, said the Pooja at 10.30 am will not be held on April 14.
