New water supply system for 10,250 consumers in Colombo

Consumers from 10,250 service connections in Colombo were connected to a new water supply system with improved pressure and uninterrupted 24-hour water supply from yesterday, National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWS&DB) said.  

In a media statement, the NWS&DB said yesterday the programme ensured improved supply especially for people living in higher elevations as directed by the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.  Accordingly, improved and uninterrupted water supply will be provided to areas such as Dam Street, Vivekananda Hill, Central Road, Quarry Road, Silversmith Road, Wolfendhal Street. Meeraniya Street, Jinthupitiya and Hulftsdrof.  


NWS&DB said in its statement the programme was implemented under the Colombo Water Supply Service Improvement Project which was launched in 2012.
