NIC office, Passport office and RMV: Closed for three days

The Departments of the Registration of Persons , Immigration and Emigration and the RMV request people not to visit the Head office and the Regional Offices during the next three days from today as they will be closed on October 7, 8 and 9 to help control the spread of COVID-19.  

DRP Commissioner-General Viyani Gunathilaka said all services relating to the issuing National Identity Cards under the one-day service scheme have been suspended for three days from today.  


“People visit the department without following the COVID-19 health guidelines and such behaviour will pose a risk to those at other government departments situated in the area,” he said.   Mr. Gunathilaka asked people to hand over their applications to the relevant Grama Niladharis. “However, priority will be given to those who want their IDs urgently,” he said. “To avail this consession, the applicant should mention the reason when handing over their applications to the respective District Secretariat offices.”   Meanwhile, the Controller of Immigration and Emigration has requested the people to obtain the services from the Department by contacting the relevant divisions on telephone numbers and e-mails during Office hours from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm.  Travel Division: 0707101060 or 0707101070; Citizenship Division: 0707101030; Overseas Missions Division: 0115329233 or 0115329235; Visa Division: 0707101050, dcvisa@immigration.gov.lk, cvisa1@immigration.gov.lk, acvisa2@immigration.gov.lk, acvisa@immigration.gov.lk and the Ports Division 0777782505.
