A young man died in a head-on collision of a motorcycle and a SLTB bus at Moraketiara on the Matara-Tangalle Road.
The deceased Rathnaweera Patabendige Sumith Maduranga (18), the rider of the motorcycle was a resident of Kandegoda in Kudawella. Police said the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and that he had lost control of the motorcycle due to excessive speed. Investigations revealed that the motorcyclist’s haphazard riding had resulted in the accident.
The driver of the bus was taken into custody pending investigations and further action.
