I will follow my father Ranasinghe Premadasa’s path and take forward Sri Lanka by devolving maximum powers to the Provincial Councils and transform Sri Lanka with the people’s strength to an undivided united country regardless of race, caste, creed and religion, Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Sajith Premadasa said.

He made the above comment after he declared open the 267th model village Almina under the “Semata Sevana” Housing Programme in the Ampara Pottuvil Secretarial Division on Saturday.

Mr.Premadasa said that the 13th Amendment in this country was lacking power and it should be given more powers and evolve solutions for the issues through it.

“During the elections, everyone speaks about it and none of them give due attention thereafter to the Provincial Councils. In addition, the political leaders spoke in foreign countries that they would grant ‘13 plus’ while they uttered about ‘13 minus ‘in Sri Lanka. In fact, they were uttering something in foreign countries and a totally different deceptive story in their own country. However, I will not do that and will fulfil what I promise and hence the people can place their confidence in me,” said Minister Sajith Premadasa.

He said that he would never allow a division in the country and eradicate the political culture of creating religious, ethnic or linguistic divisions and retrieve the people from the divisive politics and unite the country with a determined mind and transform Sri Lanka to a happy and a beautiful country.     3
