Marketing executive arrested for theft

A marketing executive from an electrical appliances showroom in Piliyandala belonging to a leading company in the country was arrested by the Dehiwala police on suspicion of pilfering electrical appliances valued more than Rs. 6.7 million. The 25-year-old suspect was a resident of Bellanwila. 

Investigations revealed that he had placed forged orders from different institutions and issued consignments of goods and transported them by company vehicles to business establishments dealing with electrical appliances in several areas including Embilipitiya, Madampe and Colombo.   
A stock of stolen goods including 26 mobile phones, 26 LED TV sets, 18 ceiling fans, blenders, gas cookers and refrigerators were recovered from the suspect’s residence at Bellanwila.   
Police said the suspect was produced before Mount Lavinia Magistrate and released on bail.   
OIC Dehiwala Police CI Anuradha Herath, OIC Crime Investigations Branch IP K.L.A.S.U K Liyanarachchi, Sergeant 4507 Bandara, PCs 77154 Thennakoon, 90027 Vitharana, 91860 Chamara,and 94018 Tharaka are conducting further investigations on the instructions of SP Rohan Pushpakumara and SSP Prashantha Brahmanage.
