Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Mano Ganesan has called on Dammika Bandara of Kegalla who claimed that he had developed a medicine to treat COVID- 19 patients, not to drag  Hindu Goddess Kali in order to promote his potion.

In a statement to the Tamil media which he had tagged in his Facebook page as well, Mr.Ganesan said that those who criticized Bandara over his medicine on the ground that it was an unproven tonic, tend to berate  Goddess Kali as well. The controversial potion- produc er had claimed that he had been possessed by Goddess Kali and he produced the COVID- 19 medicine with a mystic power he was gifted with. During a visit to the Sri Maha Bodhi on December 16, Bandara was not allowed to offer his tonic to the sacred Bodhi. He questioned Atamastanadipathi Ven. Pallegam a Sirinivasa Thera as to why he was not allowed to do so, claiming that he was himself an incarnation of Goddess Kali. This incident drew criticism from many Buddhist leaders and some of them who had openly supported his medicine earlier, had now rejected it as a medicine for the pandemic.
