Following a tip off, the STF Intelligence Unit yesterday arrested a man with 10.2kgs of heroin and 7kgs of cannabis at Wanawasala in Kelaniya. The STF said the heroin seized had a street value of more than Rs.100 million.
Investigations revealed that the narcotics had been smuggled in to the country from Afghanistan.
The suspect along with the narcotics had been handed over to the Police Anti-Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
The STF team led by CI Nadeeka Silva conducted the raid on the instructions of Commandant DIG Lionel Gunathilaka.
