Ignoring quarantine guidelines

A 22-year-old Covid-19 positive man from Sapugaskanda, who had gone missing since Saturday evening, was traced by the police at a place in Makola North in Sapugaskanda yesterday morning, the Police said.
It is said that the man had been staying with a girl at her residence where her parents too had been living.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the man named Nimesh Madushanka, a resident of Devala Road, Makola in Sapugaskanda was released from the Mahara Prison recently and the authorities had directed him to undergo the mandatory home quarantine.
Earlier the health authorities had obtained his samples for PCR test and accordingly he was found Covid-19 positive. However, when the authorities visited his house to take him to the treatment centre, he was found missing.
DIG Rohana said that the man was traced following a special operation conducted by the police along with MOH officers and PHIs.
He said investigations were being conducted to ascertain whether they had intentionally accommodated the infected man who was subsequently sent to a treatment centre. The DIG said that legal action will be taken against him after the treatment.
