Attorneys representing MP Rajitha Senaratne yesterday informed Daily Mirror that they will seek to remove the travel ban imposed on the former minister.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Counsel Gunaratne Wanninayake said that it is necessary to remove the travel ban imposed on MP Rajitha Senaratne because of his health concerns.

“We will file a motion at Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court to remove the travel ban on MP Senaratne because he has to receive his medical treatment in Singapore,” he said.

On December 30, 2019, Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court granted bail to MP Rajitha Senaratne, who was in remand custody over organizing the ‘white van abduction’ press conference held before the presidential election.

Earlier, Colombo Additional Magistrate Piyantha Liyanage issued a travel ban on the former Health Minister.

The CID informed the Magistrate that it is essential to keep the ex-minister in the country to conduct further investigations into the matter.
