Killing of Kesbewa Hotel owner Two suspects arrested with gold jewellery and gems

Two suspects including a former soldier have been arrested in connection with the killing of a hotel owner at Kesbewa in Piliyandala, Police Spokesman Jaliya Senarathna said. 

He said 34 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 13 gems belonging to the hotel owner, were found in the possession of the suspects who were arrested following an investigation by the Mirihana Special Crimes Unit.  


The 50-year-old victim, was found murdered on the bed with injuries to his head on July 7.  Investigations revealed that the victim was sleeping in his room when he was killed while his wife and child were locked inside the bathroom. 


The suspects had threatened them and stolen jewellery and gems from the house. The victim’s wife was also admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital with injuries.
