JVP on alleged airbus deal Asks govt. if legal action would be taken against suspects

JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday questioned the government whether steps would be taken to officially obtain reports revealed in a British court disclosing an incident where a SriLankan Airline’s former CEO’s wife obtaining bribes from the French aircraft manufacturer Airbus.  

He asked in Parliament whether the government would initiate legal action against those involved in the malpractice.  Mr. Dissanayake raising a question under Standing Order 27/2, said it was revealed in a legal proceedings in a British court that French aircraft manufacturer Airbus has paid US$ 2 million-bribe through a fake company under a wife of a former SriLankan Airlines chief official.  


He said when the SriLankan was loss-making, people have to bear the money paid by way of bribes.
